ournalists have learned from the National Energy Administration that in September, the total electricity consumption of the entire society reached 847.5 billion kilowatt-hours, registering a year-on-year growth of 8.5%. Among them, the electricity consumption of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries increased by 6.4%, 3.6%, and 12.7% respectively year-on-year; the electricity consumption of urban and rural residents' livelihoods rose by 27.8% year-on-year.
From January to September, the cumulative electricity consumption of the entire society totaled 7,409.4 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year increase of 7.9%. Specifically, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 103.5 billion kilowatt-hours, growing by 6.9% year-on-year; the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 4,738.5 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 5.9% year-on-year; the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 1,395.3 billion kilowatt-hours, rising by 11.2% year-on-year; the electricity consumption of urban and rural residents' livelihoods was 1,172.1 billion kilowatt-hours, climbing by 12.6% year-on-year.
It is introduced that since the beginning of this year, electricity consumption has continued its relatively rapid growth trend. The year-on-year growth rate of total electricity consumption in both August and September exceeded 8%.
Data from the China Electricity Council indicates that in the first three quarters, the growth rate of electricity consumption in the secondary industry was higher than that of the same period last year. Among them, the electricity consumption of high-tech and equipment manufacturing industries increased by 11.4% year-on-year, which was 5.6 percentage points higher than the average growth level of the manufacturing industry during the same period. The manufacturing industry continues to undergo the trend of transformation and upgrading.
